Today was the last day of our Certified Voice Artist Program workshop for batch 7. Parang kailan lang nung nagstart kami and medyo nahihiya pa kami sa isa’t isa. Ngayon, we have separation anxiety na. For our 4th day, we started by greeting the May birthday celebrants a happy birthday and the hosts, Sir Jeff and Sir Richard, asked them to do a tongue twister activity. They also gave us a review of what we did and learned throughout the whole CVAP journey of Batch 7.
Then, Ms. Nikie gave us encouraging words. She told us malaki na na-achieve namin in just a month because of the great power in just doing something. Kahit mahirap, kahit hindi tayo magaling, what’s important is we show up. You won’t know if you have the skills and ability to do something if you don’t try.
Our guest speaker for the day was Tumnic Balabat or The Nick of Voice, who is a graduate of CVAP Batch 5. In his presentation, he told us about his journey as a voice artist. He had no skills and knowledge about voiceover and dubbing, but he auditioned and tried out many things related to voice acting such a guestings and CVAP job openings. He got advice from mentors and soon, nakakuha siya ng mga projects for Vheadz, Volley Lister, RVG Toons Multimedia, Katsten Grafica, Creativoices Tagadubb, and VIVA Records Studio. He shared his strengths and weaknesses and gave us tips how to find a client by joining auditions, self-promoting on social media, and reaching out to clients via email. He also gave reminders to take care of your voice, invest in good equipment, ask for feedback, and be humble.
Then, the Voicemaster, Mr. Pocholo de Leon Gonzales, gave us another great talk. He gave us a tour of the Creativoices home studio and told us what recording and editing equipment we need in a home studio. Mr. Pocholo also talked about websites where we could sign up to get clients like Fiverr, Voices.com, Voicebunny, The Voice Real, and so many more.
For the second half of our day 4, we met with our breakout rooms then presented our voice dubbing for some famous movie scenes. It was really fun. I felt like we all became more confident in our voice acting skills as these weeks passed.
Before the meeting ended, Ms. Nikie gave us our last batch of homeworks. We were asked to do an AVP of our life video, group dubbing video, CVAP testimonial video, and Day 4 Blog and Vlog. It’s sad that the workshop has ended. Sa graduation day na ulit kami magkikita, but it’s alright because that means that this workshop has brought out the best in all of us. We were able to learn a lot and gain more knowledge and confidence. If you want to know more about my thoughts about this workshop, make sure to check out my testimonial video, AVP of my life videos, and CVAP vlogs on my YouTube channel.

We are not just almost done with May 2021, but also almost done with the CVAP sessions for batch 7. Unbelievable how time flies so fast. Today was the 3rd day of our CVAP voiceover workshop which started with a prayer led by CVA Adrian Bugnosen and a bit of kumustahan with our voicemates and hosts about our voice brand and workshop experience so far.
We heard from our voicemates Jezel Gida, Edrian Aldo Biscante, Paolo Guevarra, and Joris Sapiera. Surprisingly, I was also called. I shared that I already have a voice brand “The Clear Voice” and that I’m thankful for the support I get from my voicemates. As we shared our thoughts and experiences, Mr. Jeff JuanVoice Perey reminded us not to give up on doing our homeworks because they’re there to help us grow into better voice artists. Then Mr. Richard and Mr. Jeff gave the 5 of us a quick activity related to our character voices activity last session. We were told to say short lines in 3 different voice characters. I was really nervous last time when I was given screen time last week, but for some reason, I felt calm when I was being asked questions in our session today.
Ms. Nikie Esmero gave some words of encouragement to us, telling us to keep learning and be an empty vessel ready to receive new ideas and advice from our certified voice artist teachers. This way, our journey in the Certified Voice Artist Program will be maximized. Ms. Nikie also gave an overview of our groupwork which was to do a Zoomarte. We drew lots on the radio drama genre we were to perform. Our group, BR4, was assigned to do a drama skit.
After drawing lots for the group activity, we welcomed the Voice Master, Mr. Pocholo Gonzales who gave us another inspirational talk about our voice acting journey. He said that we aren’t alone because we have relationships with our voicemates who can help us and give us good feedback.
He also told us that getting out of our comfort zone is an important part of being a voice actor. We can do so many things if we let go of our shyness. In order to get out of our comfort zones, we need to practice and talk. We have to read aloud, so that we can use the elements of our voice & apply the formula we learned. We also have to get used to how we sound in a recording. To be honest, for me, I don’t like hearing my voice but so many people told me they like how my voice sounds. I’m really glad there’s CVAP to help me out. Sir Choy also told us we have to look back at our recordings, listen to them, and give ourselves feedback because it’s only us who can improve our voices. No one else can do it for us.
Then, he let us listen to a radio drama sample he recorded for DZRH 666 titled May Pangako Ang Bukas and some audiobooks which were full of emotions. They’re more challenging and intense to make compared to voiceovers for commercials. We also had some voicemates say some lines with movements and feelings as a quick practice for doing radio dramas.
I think mas bagay yata ako for more formal events, but I shouldn’t say that as early as now kasi one month palang naman ako nag vvoiceover. I can’t be perfect overnight. I need a lot of practice.
Fast forward to after our lunch break, we listened to our guest speaker Joshua Anthony Simeon “The Voice Scout” from Batch 1 of CVAP who talked to us about how to become a top certified voice artist. He told us his journey from just watching YouTube videos about voice artists, to attending the CVAP post that he saw online, to being someone who became a student at CVAP last April 2020. Now, he’s the voice behind some voiceover projects for several famous brands.
Then, he proceeded to giving us his tips. First, he said do our assignments at CVAP. Second, invest in time, talent, and treasure. He also mentioned we need 4 basic things as a CVAP: microphone, desktop/laptop, a Digital Audio Workstation, and of course, our voice.
When his talk ended, Mr Rich and Mr Jeff gave us some tongue twisters to practice to have a better pronunciation. Then, each breakout room met, wrote scripts, and rehearsed for our radio drama groupwork, and finally performed. We had 3 genres: comedy, drama, and horror. Ang gagaling ng mga voicemates ko, parang pros.
To end our day 3 at CVAP, we were told to check our Facebook group for the next batch of homeworks. It was another fun and educational meeting for us. Every Saturday, I feel more inspired and confident to continue to voice artist journey. I'm looking forward to learning more about being a voice artist not just on our last meeting next week, but also in the next months and years.

Today was day 2 of our Certified Voice Artist Program (CVAP). The homeworks for week 1 were challenging but exciting to do. There are times that I feel like giving up on this CVA journey, but I can’t give up. I paid for this and allotted time for this workshop. Like what they say, God didn’t bring you this far only to come this far. There are so many job opportunities I can get out of this voice artist career. And I don’t look forward only to the income I’ll get but also the sense of fulfillment and happiness I’ll get to feel. Speaking and hosting are the things I enjoy, even if I’m shy at first which is I came back for CVAP day 2.
Today, my 80 voicemates and I, started our morning with an opening prayer and watched a video of the CVAP mantra, which I still have to memorize in the next weeks. The session was hosted by Mr. Richard Abalos and Mr. Jeff Perey. We welcomed some of our classmates like John Vincent who’s in the States now. And also, Robinson Tumampos, the first clef palate voice artist in the country. It was very inspiring to see him not hindered by his disability.
Our guest speaker for today was Ms. Faith Pastrana, a graduate of CVAP and voice master class, who worked in Singapore for 9 years but had to go back to the Philippines because of covid 19. She’s a scriptwriter, voice artist, and producer. We watched a video about her life, featured on 24 Oras, a tv news program in the Philippines. Mr. Richard Abalos was featured in that video as well.
For several minutes Ms. Faith talked to us about her journey during her 30-day quarantine before going home and her journey after quarantine. She was invited to manage this business show for entrepreneurs, interview many successful people, and work with Google My Business. This helped gain her confidence and find her passion which is to empower people, especially women. Hopefully, I can also be like that and find my audience and the topics I’m passionate about in this big world.
After that, Mr. Voice Master, Pocholo Gonzales, gave us a talk. He told us to believe in ourselves. If we change the way we see the world, the world around us will change. He also reminded us that we should love our own voice and develop it. No one else can have the same voice as ours. We’re unique. And our voices are needed and will be needed by specific clients, but we don’t know yet who they are. Aside from the motivational stuff, Mr. Pocholo talked about developing our character voices while Mr. Richard Abalos talked about voice care.
For our activity, each of us had a 1-2 minute performance in 3-5 different voice characters, which is so cool. I feel like many voice artists are so ready to be hired for a voiceover project asap.
Today was an enjoyable day at CVAP’s workshop. I can’t believe we’re already halfway through this. I’m really looking forward to the next 2 workshop days. See you in my next vlog.

Hi, I’m Christine Joy Mañanita. You can call me Christine. I’m 23 years old. I graduated from the University of Asia and the Pacific with the course Integrated Marketing Communications.
I’m currently a full-time virtual assistant for a video agency based in Los Angeles, United States. Before that, I was a marketing assistant at a healthcare company. But when I’m not working, I like filming YouTube vlogs, reading books, watching tv series, and helping out in my church’s ministry by leading small groups and recording voiceovers.
Ever since I was young, I’ve always been part of my school’s and church’s events. I would either be the host in events or have a part in the program, like being a singer for our school's and church's choir.
I was really shy when I was young, but as I grew up, I realize, this is where God is leading me. My parents even encouraged me to take a public speaking and hosting workshop in 2015 at Trumpets Playshop.
I was always assigned to do tasks related to hosting and doing voiceovers. And many people have told me that I have a clear voice and I'm good at hosting. That made me think, why not try enhancing this God-given skill especially now that I have a lot of free time at home because of covid?
So I looked for a voiceover workshop online and I stumbled upon the website and Facebook page of Creativoices. After talking to my family and friends and praying about it, I decided to enroll for the Creative Voice Artist Program this May 2021.
Today, we had our first out of four sessions of the program. I really had a good experience. We watched video testimonials of people who attended the program months and years ago, listened to the Voice Master’s motivational and inspirational words, and got to know my CVAP mentors and 80 classmates.
As our first session came to an end, I was overwhelmed when we were given several homeworks to do which was due at the end of the month. But I shifted my way of thinking that was negative and became optimistic.
This opportunity to join voiceover workshops is my chance to share my voice with the world, my chance to get trained by the best voice artists in the Philippines, and one day, my future self will thank me for it for the future work opportunities I’ll have. I’m a bit overwhelmed, challenged, and excited for this new journey as a voice artist.
As I continue this freelance career journey, I shouldn’t forget that if there’s a will, there’s always a way.
Times may be hard, but that shouldn’t stop me from reaching for your dreams, helping others, and of course, continually seeking guidance from the Lord. I'm really looking forward to the next CVAP session next week.
About Christine
At a young age, Christine started her hosting and voice acting career when she started volunteering for her church's, school's, and family's events.
In 2015, she joined the Trumpets Playshop workshop for public speaking and hosting to boost her confidence in public speaking and hosting.
Since then, her voice became used for Capitol City Baptist Church's online worship services and audio devotionals.
In 2018, Christine finished her college degree as an Integrated Marketing Communications graduate from the University of Asia and the Pacific. She then became a marketing assistant at HIMEX Corporation where she organized events and assisted the companies' sales teams.
After almost two years of experience, she decided to go down a new career path and became a virtual assistant at Promoshin.com where she worked on creating social media content and blog writing.
In 2021, with a lot of time on her hands, Christine decided to level up her speaking skills and joined the Certified Voice Artist Program (CVAP) where she was trained by several known voice artists such as Pocholo Gonzales (Voice Master).
Having attended a voice acting workshop and volunteered for various events, Christine believes that she can use her voiceover skills to meet companies' and individuals' voiceover needs for their AVP, commercials, online ads, podcasting, etc. She hopes to gain a following on her YouTube channel and host her own podcast that shares to people her simple life and God's love for the world.
